Commemorating the Battle of Lepanto

The Porta Marina, which leads to the old port, was built in 1573 using Roman architectural elements such as the arch erected by Melia Anniana for the funeral of her husband. At the top, there is a plaque commemorating the Dalmatian troops who defeated the Ottomans in the historic Battle of Lepanto. At the gate you can see the ancient symbol of Zadar: St. Grisogono on horseback. The exterior is decorated with a winged lion.
