Portage Glacier is 77km from Anchorage. In order to see the glacier up close there is a short one-hour cruise on Lake Portage. The boat approaches the glacier to see the beautiful details in the ice. Portage Glacier is one of the more than 10,000 glaciers that can be found within the Chugach National Park.
