6 reviews of Posada Dos Orillas

It’s been a while since I stayed in a hotel like this

La Posada Dos Orillas was the hotel I booked when I passed through Trujillo. It spent two unforgettable days there and the hotel was a real surprise.

At first glance, I liked the old-fashioned decoration in the reception and the service they gave us. They showed us a lot of respect and took us to the room personally. By coincidence, we ended up having the largest room at the hotel.

What I didn’t expect, though, was that we’d have a 4-post bed, luxurious and detailed decoration, pristine cleanliness, and an indirect light that gave the whole place a relaxing air lacking in many hotels. Besides, the views of the church are spectacular.

    Inn and restaurant

Dos orillas is an inn located in a renovated building with great taste, and both the name of the inn and those of the rooms reference the link Trujillo has with the New World, as the 13 rooms have the names of the 13 countries where Trujillo is a toponym.

The restaurant has a very extensive menu, which mixes traditional cooking with modern contrasts, available are the traditional sopa de picadillo (soup from Andalusia) or salmorejo, foie tacos with Cointreau and berries or shavings of foie with a Modena (vinegar) reduction.

The fish, highly recommendable, is presented in the form of tuna carpaccio (an Italian hors d’oeuvre consisting of thin slices of raw beef or fish served with a sauce), lubina a la espalda (grilled or roasted sea bass with bell peppers, onions, olive oil and vinegar), or bacalao al horno a tres bandas (baked cod).

We were walk-ins, and we were surprised...

We were walk-ins, and we were surprised first by the extremely amiable service given by Alvaro and the beauty of the posada. The room was spacious, cozy with classic furniture you would expect in Trujillo. We slept late, it is so quiet! And so late our breakfast was just there for us (no need to hurry and wake up early on vacation).
    Highly recommended!!!
