Best salmorejo in cordoba

The Restaurante Bodegas Campos in Cordoba, Spain is one of the best options to enjoy authentic local cuisine in a traditional atmosphere, far from the touristy tapas joints near the Mosque. The restaurant is popular among the locals and it fills up quickly for lunch (especially on Sundays) so I'd really suggest making a reservation or, if you're not picky, you might be able to find space at the bar.

Cordoba has its fair share of local specialties, but the two most famous by far are salmorejo (a thicker version of gazpacho made with bread crumbs) and stewed ox tail (known locally as "rabo de toro"), both of which are house specialties at Bodegas Campos. We sat at the bar and first ordered a few chilled glasses of Manzanilla sherry, a typical drink in the south of Spain. Then, for starters we ordered a quail pate and the salmorejo. The pate was tasty and pleasant but the salmorejo was absolutely addictive. I've never like salmorejo before but Bodegas Campos made me a believer! The chilled soup is made from fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, bread crums, and olive oil, and is topped with sliced Serrano ham and hard boiled egg. My wife and I was fighting over ve'd get the last spoonful and we cleaned the bowl dry with crusts of bread afterwards.

Then, we got a savory, melt-in-your-mouth ox tail served in a red wine sauce over mashed potatoes. Ox tail is a hard dish to get right (either its too tough or they just boil it away into oblivion), but this plate was unctuous, tender, and flavorful.

Seriously, if you're looking for a good meal to celebrate your trip to Cordoba, Bodegas Campos is the place.

Restaurante bodegas campos

Bodegas Campos is located near the mosque and is a very typical winery of Córdoba. The decor is lovely and the place is a well known stopping point for countless celebrities. As for the food, it's wonderful, particularly the bulls tail. It is maybe a little pricey for the size of the dishes. Recommended.

The best gazpacho i've ever eaten

Probably one of the best places to eat in Cordoba. All the great food and excellent service ... Good ham, good wine, all products of excellent quality and well maintained kitchen. The gazpacho, the best I have eaten. The oxtail, though not one of my favorite dishes, I dared to try it here (unlike elsewhere) because I had read somewhere that it was the best of Córdoba ... And matched. We also really liked the croquettes and vegetable dishes. A 10! Besides the food is exquisite, you must not lose the different environments: the flower-filled courtyards, different banquet halls, where, incidentally, many weddings are usually held in the city of Cordoba. They have also eaten here many celebrities who have left their signature in many wine barrels that adorn the halls. There are also many black and white photos of celebrities who eventually visited here. In short, a very elegant and a very special Andalusian touch that I recommend. The price varies greatly depending on what you eat, of course, but overall good value (say € 40-45 per person). I leave a lot of pictures of the place because I liked it so much that I threw a lot, especially the courtyards.

El mejor salmorejo que he comido

Probablemente uno de los mejores sitios para comer en Córdoba. Toda la comida buenísima y un servicio excelente...

Buen jamón, buen vino, todos los productos de excelente calidad y la cocina muy bien cuidada. El salmorejo, del mejor que he comido. El rabo de toro, aunque no sea uno de mis platos favoritos, me atreví a probarlo aquí (al contrario que en otros lugares) porque había leído por ahí que era de los mejores de Córdoba... Y acertaron. También nos gustaron mucho las croquetas y los platos de verdura. ¡Un 10!

Además de que la comida es exquisita, no os debéis perder los diferentes ambientes: los patios interiores llenos de flores, las diferentes salas de banquetes, en los que, por cierto, suelen celebrarse muchas bodas de la ciudad de Córdoba. También han comido aquí muchos famosos que han dejado su firma en multitud de barriles de vino que adornan los pasillos. Hay también muchas fotos en blanco y negro de famosos que en algún momento visitaron este lugar.

En resumen, un lugar elegantísimo y con un toque andaluz muy especial que os recomiendo. El precio varía mucho según lo que comas, lógicamente, pero en general buena relación calidad-precio (digamos unos 40-45 € por persona). Os dejo un montón de fotos del lugar porque me gustó tanto que le tiré muchas, en especial los patios.

Montilla, no thanks

But it is not the only one in the evening. Maybe it was not the right way to taste their wine, but really all that sweetness with salad and tuna belly, I would not recommend to anyone. For the rest? Perfect. Really an interesting place. A great local restaurant salty, large and small, all furnished with barrels auografate by celebrities local and otherwise. Restaurant for those looking for refinement, the tavern a little less formal, and finally the bar for some tapas fast. Excellent fried eggplant and asparagus with eggs and jamon. Calle de Lineros 32, also has a convenient parking.

Montilla, no grazie

Ma è l'unico no della serata.
Forse non era il modo giusto di gustare il loro vino ma davvero tutta quella dolcezza con l'insalata e la ventresca di tonno, non la consiglio a nessuno.

Per il resto? Perfetto. Davvero un posto interessante. Un grande locale caratteristico ricco di sale, piccole e grandi, tutte arredate con botti auografate da personaggi famosi locali e non.

Ristorante per chi cerca la ricercatezza, la taverna un po meno formale e infine il bar per qualche tapas veloce.

Ottime le melanzane fritte e gli asparagi con uova e jamon.

Calle de lineros 32, ha anche un comodo parcheggio.

Affects the attention to detail in the rooms of this restaurant that also sells in a well-kept shop, local produce. Prices a bit 'above average, but not quite justified by the place the plates. The salmorejo and 'good but not the best I have eaten. Certainly not justified by the staff that I found disorganized and inattentive

Colpisce la cura nei dettagli nei locali di questo ristorante che vende anche in un curatissimo negozio, prodotti locali. Prezzi un po' sopra la media, giustificati dal luogo ma non abbastanza dai piatti. Il salmorejo è buono ma non il migliore che ho mangiato. Sicuramente nemmeno giustificati dal personale che ho trovato disorganizzato e disattento.

A disaster if want to organize something.

A disaster if you want to organize something. After holding the most important event of my life here, my conclusion is that they have brought fame and have gone to sleep. Only events with important people care the details, the food pretty good, in certain limited respects. I recommend you eat in place for its charm but as profundicéis into something more serious (wedding, christening, reunion ...) that requires some organization, defects and absurdities arise by themselves and nobody is responsible.

Tras haber celebrado el evento más importante de mi vida en este lugar, mi conclusión es que han criado la fama y se han echado a dormir. Solo en eventos con personalidades importantes cuidan los detalles, la comida bastante bien, en ciertos aspectos escasa. Os recomiendo comer en el lugar por su encanto pero como profundicéis en algo más serio (boda, bautizo, reunión...) que requiera algo de organización, los defectos y despropósitos surgen por si solos y nadie se hace responsable.

Absolutely essential in córdoba!

IF you have not taken some tapas or better, you have not dined at Bodegas Campos .... you have not been to Cordoba. In addition to the location and decoration, they deserve the visit, the quality of the cuisine is extraordinary. Absolutamente imprescindible en córdoba!

SI no has tomado unas tapas o, mejor, no has cenado en Bodegas Campos.... no has estado en Córdoba. Además del sitio y la decoración, que merecen la visita, la calidad de la cocina es extraordinaria. Todo platos clásicos pero... mejorados y excelentemente presentados: merece la pena el salmorejo, el rabo de toro (deshuesado) y el helado de naranja con cubitos de pedroximénez.... Mmmmmm, hay que volver ya!

A mini getaway with my husband, we were recommended this restaurant in hotel, spectacular la carte dishes highlight salmorejo, delicious, and flamenquines secrecy and ham, but the best dessert ... Buenisimo quince ice cream, a touch of cinnamon makes it incredible.
