Royal Chapel of St. Anthony of la Florida

8 reviews of Royal Chapel of St. Anthony of la Florida

Madrid's best-kept secret

Excellent

The Royal Chapel of St. Anthony of Florida (locally, Ermita de San Antonio de Florida) is one of Madrid's best kept secrets, an artistic jewel that's unknown to many locals and most tourists. This is a small, historic chapel whose simple domes feature stunning frescoes by Goya, perhaps Spain's most celebrated painter and one of the greatest painters in the history of Europe. This building also houses Goya's tomb, another little-known fact.

There is no entry fee and it's open every day from 10am to 8pm. It's really worth a quick visit to admire the incredible frescoes by one of the country's best artists.
