The Royal Mews

The first thing I wondered about was what does the name Royal Mews mean? As you will not find it in a dictionary you will have to visit the place itself. Mews is the name of feathers that are shed by real hawks when they are training. We saw many floats, each with its own meaning and explanation. We also saw the royal limousine and finally the main attraction, namely the impressive gold and royal carriage. It is certainly worth a visit just to see this awesome coach.

The Royal Mews are considered the most beautiful stables still in operation. Open to the public from March to October, they hold the royal collection of cars and carriages as well as the queen's horse box, still regularly used. You can admire the glass coach, the coach of the Australian state (with central heating) and the most luxurious and impressive of all, the gold state coach that has been used in every coronation since 1821 and was most recently used in 2002 to celebrate the queen's golden jubilee. With a little luck, you can also see the queen's fabulous horses, if they are not at rest or at work.
