Samarkand Cemetery

They say that to know a country you have to know how they live, how they shop, how they eat and especially how they die. On my journey through Uzbekistan our guide took us to the famous cemetery of Samarkand, bettr known as the Jewish Cemetery. At first we did not know anything interesting about the cemetery, but Samarkand was very different from cemeteries in other countries. it is located in the oldest part of Samarkand near the necropolis Shakh-i-Zinda. It shows the love they have for their dead and as well respected as both a burial ceremony. The age of the graves dating from 1940 to 1945, when World War II ended, and that we must not forget that many of the Uzbeks were killed in that war.
