Old St. John's Hospital (Sint-Janshospitaal)

1 review of Old St. John's Hospital (Sint-Janshospitaal)

A beautiful building

Now known as "The Memling Museum" (as it was the home of the German artist Hans Memling), this old hospital is a beautiful building that dates back to the late Middle Ages and still retains some of its charm and original features. It is one of the oldest medieval hospitals still standing, and one of the best preserved. In fact, the museum occupies only part of the building. The exterior was more impressive to me than the interior, though that too was worth visiting. I'm not sure why this is ignored by so many visitors.
