Sant Jeroni of Cotalba Monastery

4 reviews of Sant Jeroni of Cotalba Monastery

Imposing monument just 5 min out of Gandia

The Monastery of St. Jerome of Cotalba is one of the most remarkable and unique monasteries of Valencia. Founded in 1388 it is in Alfauir (Valencia), about 8 km from Gandia (a 5-10 minute drive), from Valencia about a 45-50 minute drive. Its style is Gothic-Renaissance and has a unique Gothic-Mudejar cloister, one of the few examples of Mudejar art in Valencia, the Torre Mayor, the main church, the Patio de los Naranjos or romantic gardens of XIX century. A visit to the monument lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes including the screening of a 20 minute documentary on the history of the Monastery.
