Great architectural work of castilla

It took a long time to be built. Construction began in the late 15th century by the architect Diego Alonso de Montaude and was completed in the early 19th century. There were several architects involved in the project. It is considered the "great architectural work of Castilla off of the peninsula".

Santa ana cathedral of las palmas, a charming place

When you reach the Plaza de Santa Ana, I was surprised the cast iron dogs can encontras there, but the rise and contemplate the square and the cathedral. I could see that boasts a great beauty in its architecture. At first disoriented by their color, I realized that like many buildings canaries, owes its color to its volcanic origin. A very beautiful place to stop off to rest and have a coffee with these beautiful views.

A wonderful place full of history

A wonderful place full of history. Worth visiting the square to see the cathedral, like the rest of the old town with its typical houses.

A look at yesterday

In this beautiful place in the capital of Gran Canaria I could see in the eyes of women, the most sincere devotion of blankets, these devotees of Christ and the Virgin of the painful show their grief over the death of Jesus.

Santa Ana bears the name "Cathedral of the Canary Islands of Santa Ana", since it during the construction of the XVI. Century was the only cathedral in the Canary Islands. Today there is still a second in San Cristbal de la Laguna, in Tenerife, but the name was retained. The Diocese of Las Palmas dated from 1404 and 1497 were begun with the construction of the cathedral. Since its inauguration in 1570, it is one of the most recognizable structures in the archipelago. Santa Ana is located on place with the same name, in the heart of the old town. Inside lt in addition to the art works also admire Christ, designed by Lujn Prez, and the Virgin de los Dolores de Vegueta. Vegueta is the oldest quarters of Palmas. The church features on a museum of sacred art with other religious artworks. Since the founding of the Diocese of Santa Ana has been the patron saint of Las Palmas.

Santa ana has the full name of cathed...

Santa Ana has the full name of Cathedral de Canarias Santa Ana, because during its construction in the sixteenth century it was the only cathedral in the islands. Today there's another one in San Cristóbal de la Laguna, in Tenerife, but the name of Santa Ana has not been changed. The Diocese of Las Palmas date of 1404, and the cathedral began to be built in 1497. In 1570, it was consecrated and has since been one of the most emblematic buildings of the archipelago. Santa Ana is located on the square of the same name, in the heart of the historic center of the city. Inside, among the works of art you can admire the Christ, directed by Luján Pérez and the Virgin of Sorrows Vegueta. Vegueta is the name of the historic district of Las Palmas. The church has a sacred art museum, along with other religious works. Santa Ana has always been the boss of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, since the creation of the diocese.
