Little town that hasn´t lost its traditions

The first stop of a 4-day trek through Machu Picchu was in a quiet town named Santa Maria. It is a tiny village where tourism is not common so they have not lost the traditions of the area. Most of the natives are engaged in the field and livestock and even you can more people who speak Quechua than Castilian. The houses are humble and there are not many services but we can find many bars and restaurants where you can eat well and have a beer. Yes, here the drinks are usually more expensive than in cities like Cuzco for a reason, because in order to bring much needed work and there is only 1 road to get to town.
