A beautiful site to see

The "Scala dei Turchi" or "Stairway of the Turks" in English, is a very beautiful and extensive rocky cliff overlooking the sea, which is located in REALMONTE, which is eighteen kilometers away from Agrigento in Sicily. What makes this cliff so beautiful is undoubtedly its color, as it is made of a stone called Marga, which is a completely pure white sedimentary limestone, where the wind and rain through the centuries have worn away at its extensive steps.

They say that the name comes from the ancient Saracen pirate raids and Arabs (generalizing: Turks) that protected their wind-powered boats amid these cliffs. Among the beaches that dominate the Scala dei Turchi are the Rosello, Giallonardo, Le Pergole and Punta Grande, which all are covered with excellent fine sand. From this exquisite location, the turquoise blue sea is really inviting for visitors.

You can't miss it

The cliffs rising out of gorgeous, white-sand beaches are only accessible using the white stairwell carved into the rock. It is, without a doubt, a very evocative and beautiful place which surprised me even before I arrived. The sea is incredible transparent and looks even better next to the shining white steps descending into the sea. You can't miss it.

One evening in sicily

Reach the Scala dei Turchi is a more effort than justified. For starters, there are not many places to stay and park near the stairs down to the beach is a worthy mission for Tom Cruise. Resignate to tendrs sure to kick a while. After coming down the stairs. The spectacular cliffs along the narrow trail inevitable stop every 10 steps to watch the spectacle of the sea. And that is fine, but when you couple that with mutiny people with children, umbrellas, coolers, hammocks etc ... the descent becomes eternal. Once on the beach you have not reached an. Meet walk about 500m up the ramp that rises to the Scala. You've come ?, you've found a niche where to sit? have the camera ready? ... Well it's time to forget all this. It is the ideal place to enjoy a well deserved reward time. It is the time of sunset, the orange tones of the sea breeze and the smell of salt. No matter which then have to undo all the way to the car. This moment is yours and nobody will remove you. Enjoy it! ... Enjoy the ladder of Turkish ... Worth it!

Along the coast of porto empedocle

The coast Empedoclina with its crystal clear sea and beaches, stretches for three kilometers, giving life to one of the most beautiful coastlines in the Mediterranean. A few kilometers from the town of Porto Empedocles in the direction of Realmonte, is the "Scala dei Turchi", a beautiful rock wall that rises above the sea and landscape that has become an attraction for the singularity of its white chalk cliff. This particular natural conformation owes its name to the Saracen pirates who, according to an old rumor, climbed the "ladder" coming from the sea to prey on the Sicilian coast. Under the scorching summer sun terraces buy her a dazzling whiteness. In fact, time and erosion have carved the rock in order to create this spectacle of nature that receives during the summer thousands of swimmers, onlookers and tourists from all over the world.

Impressive cliff

"Scala dei Turchi" is rpertorie appreciates as a beach area of Agrigento in the municipality of Realmonte. But it is mainly a natural curiosity of the first order because the white marl cliffs found on the southern coast of Sicily prsentent here a natural staircase to glove legs. The denomination that makes reference to the Turks had evoked me the Pamukkale site because of the whiteness of the rock, but it seems that it makes allusion rather an invading Ottomans allegedly by natural steps and climb the cliff.

Falaise impressionnante

The scales are of turkish marl cliffs...

The scales are of Turkish marl cliffs south of Sicily, Agrigento. They get their name from the legend that the Turkish people have used these cliffs whose shape resembles stairs to conquer the land atop the cliffs. It is an ideal place to go sunbathing thanks to the intense glare of the sun. The beach is deserted and more!

A context heavenly!

La Scala dei Turchi is a type scoglifero wall that rises above the sea along the coast of Realmonte near Agrigento. The reef is located in the middle between two sandy beaches, consists of marl, clay-like material that has a pure white color. After reaching the top of the rock you can see the view embraces the whole coast of Agrigento. Nature creates crazy things!!

Essential

We spent an afternoon there, the site is spectacular ... are those places that are kept in the retina as if you had been yesterday. Recommended totally get away. Being summer, so enjoy the place with a good bathroom, but maybe too many people to make good pictures, if you go in spring, when there is less agglomeration, sure will seem much grander site.

Imprescindible

Openmouthed

The first time I traveled to Sicily, looking a travel guide saw a picture of this place and thought, "I want to go there." Three years passed until I got it, but it was worth it. It is a limestone rock by the sea that leaves you speechless, in a wild place that reminds you of the glamor of the 50s, worth seeing.

Boquiabierta

White mountain

I was in Sicily, at the scale of the Turks, a beach and mountain entirely of white stone, a unique spectacle, to take pictures for a fashion editorial English. Already knew this place, I had already done another job several years ago, but every time I see the emotions it elicits are always strong.

Montagna bianca
