Sculptures of Pinuccio Scioli

Ephemeral effects of a momentary and difficult situation because of discontent generated by the bad conditions experienced by the miners who worked there. The consequence of all of this was the famous strike in September 1904, which was violently suppressed by police, who were called in by the management of the mine, and which caused three deaths and several injuries. After the mine closure, Buggerru tried to recover, relying on its excellent geographical position, and potential tourist development, but only recently has this begun to take off. However, the country still remember the mine: closed and abandoned tunnels leading to the coast, the sand mixed with powdered zinc and lead, some Scioli Pinuccio sculptures in the square in front of the marina which remember those tragic events.
