Amazing architecture

This great store, named after Harry Gordon Selfridge (born in Wisconsin, USA, in 1850) was opened on March 15, 1909. It was designed by the architect and engineer Daniel Hudson Burnham Yorker (1846/1912), a true representative of the Chicago School. Francis Swales, another American who studied under Jean-Louis Pascal at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, made all the ornamental details. The glass windows have metal frames finished with bronze ornaments articulated with short pillars, and the corners are enriched with garlands. The giant colonnade consists of fluted Ionic columns. The original design of the project was provided by the London sculptor Gilbert Bayes (1872-1953).

An institution of English fashion

Good

Since its opening in 1909, this huge building with yellow flags has become an institution among the shops of the famous Oxford Street. It is the second largest store in London, after Harrods, and contains everything for everyone, no matter the budget: clothing, makeup, fragrance, home accessories, lingerie, home decor ... with the largest luxury brands in the world as well as lesser-known options. If you don't want to shop, it's still worth taking a trip to see the building with its beautiful, wacky window displays. An institution of English fashion!

A fabulous store

Selfridges on Oxford Street is near Bond Street station. The Christmas window displays are particularly beautiful (they change their displays frequently throughout the year). You will find the finest luxury brands here, and in the food hall you can buy caviar, foie gras and langoustines. They also have great chocolate and biscuits. You can find everything you need in this fabulous store!
