Serra del Monserrat Natural Park

This natural park is located in the Priorat region in the province of Tarragona. The protected area covers an area of ​​9500 hectares spread over several municipalities, but Morera de Montsant is the information center of the park. The terrain is very rough, consisting of a large set of natural walls and unique rock formations. The difficulty of access means that there is little tourism in the area, making it a haven of calm and peace rare in a natural park. It has managed to retain a rich community of typical Mediterranean plants and fauna. An amazingly quiet place to really unwind.

The PEIN (Plan de Espacios de Interés Natural) Plan of Places of Natural Interest was issued by the Catalan goverment in decree 328/1992, dated 14th December. Its aim is to establish the measures needed for the basic protection of areas where conservation is necessary. This protection encompasses the scientific, ecological, scenic, cultural, social, didactic and recreational aspects of each area included in it.
