5 reviews of Shakespeare's Birthplace

Really worth going

I was living just 30 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon, so of course I had to visit and see the house where William Shakespeare grew up and spent the first years of his marriage to Anne Hathaway. Between the museum, the monument, and the examples of the Elizabethan lifestyle, I had plenty to see, although I found the noisy Spanish tourists a bit off-putting! There's a really interesting display of Shakespeare's possessions, and you can visit his house, which is well-preserved, and gardens. Really worth going, especially if you like history and literature.

Now a museum

The entire town of Stratford-Upon-Avon is dedicated to Shakespeare because he was born there and lived in a house in the city center. The house in question is now a museum that can be visited. And of course there are lots of shops selling quill pens, manuscripts, and books. Interestingly, some random words can be seen in the streets of the town. Very fun!
