Odeillo Solar Furnace

One of the most interesting places I discovered on my trip through the French Cerdanya was the giant solar oven that people can visit to learn about using the sun and its energy. SOLAR OVEN GREAT ODEILLO (CNRS), is a mirror that's 40 meters tall and world famous for scientists. It's one of the most-visited places in this part of France every year. The photos of the people building the impressive oven and it seems that just landed somewhere in the space. The image of the furnace can be seen from almost all the valley of the Cerdanya. Sometimes one of the infinite mirrors flashes you and most surprisingly blind is the thick vegetation surrounding the area where you'll also find a playground.

In June 2010 I visited the research center. It was a small tour of the outside of the facility. The size of the main building is impressive as is the sight of the hill full of reflective mirrors. We didn't have time to visit the museum, but would still recommend a visit.
