The unique beauty of the desert of namibia

After breakfast at the foot of the dune 45 continue 30 km. more until the road ends jutting into the Namib-Naukluft. From there it is all sand, so you can only carry 4x4. We left the truck and we go several miles in every open field that is used in the safaris. We are in Sossusvlei. The cold dawn gives way to own desert heat and the dunes are acquiring tone more intense orange color. The east wind keeps pushing the sand towards the Atlantic Ocean, making life difficult on the dune, but not impossible. In the lower areas enjoy a spectacular contrast of colors between the red sand and white silt deposits originated in the rainy season. Footprints remain when the ground was wet. To this must be added the silhouette dry tree, giving the landscape an eerie, unique look.

In Sossusvlei you find the highest sand dunes in the world! Since you can not see the desert from sheer sand ... One sees barren lakes (Vleis) and everywhere sand. But the beautiful on the sand: He verndert constantly its color - depending on the position of the sun. Therefore, it can be observed schn on a hike over merhere hours that the Danes different look each time. Running on the combing the sand dunes can be very stressful, because you always upload a step and simultaneously a half goes down again. the sand is besides, noon towards getting hotter. But the view is fantastic if you look over a sea of dunes! Particularly bizarre are the dead Baumstmpfe in Dead Vlei. The walk here is hard and hot, but it's worth it and you should hchstens zurcklegen a distance with the rangers in the off-road cars.

He had to get up very early to take the track and be the sunrise at Sossusvlei, but the track is too long and I do not see the "sunrise" in Sossusvlei: never mind, it's not a matter of queqlues meters: the dunes are already high and ablaze with the colors of dawn. Let us stop and enjoy the scenery. Moreover, other tourists are climbing up a nearby dune ... At Sossusvlei, we must abandon the sedan and borrow a truck because the track became too sandy. And finally we are at the foot of the highest dunes in the world. The drought was due to some trees whose trunks stand blackened, ghostly, on a white cracked soil. Ruthlessness, vast desert and men ... tiny ants on the crest of the dune.
