As soon as we enter the center of Viveiro, by the way on the corner of the Mercado de Abastos, surprising the monumentality of this church, which is located on a promontory, and accessed by a grand staircase. Before joining, you should carefully observe the outside, the apse is considered one of the most beautiful of Galicia (XIII century). It was the church of the convent of San Francesco, which still shares with it the walls of the left side, and is now used as a center for social services run by the Municipality. The façade of the fourteenth century, in the Gothic style. On both sides of the entrance there are two single arches which were originally inputs of the chapels of the saints Luis (archbishop of Toulouse and patron of the guild of Mareantes) and Juan Bautista. If we look, we can see murals in good condition, depicting the torments of Santa Barbara, Saint Lucia and San Lorenzo. The monumental complex formed from the church and adjoining convent was declared a Historic and Artistic National Monument by the Spanish Government.
