St. Paul's Church

Passing El Römer, we get to the Paulsplatz, a place that gets its name from the Church of San Pablo. This red sandstone church is the greatest symbol of German democracy. It was the headquarters of the National Assembly from 1848 to 1849, which drafted documents on which current law is based. After its reconstruction following World War II, the Church of St. Paul was not used for religious purposes. Currently awards are made there and political and cultural activities take place there. On the facade we see plaques commemorating well-known politicians and citizens of honor from the city. On the north side is the Monument to the victims of National Socialism, and on the south side, the Memorial Church Unity (Einheitsdenkmal).
