Statue of Frederick the Great

4 reviews of Statue of Frederick the Great

Impressive statue

This impressive statue, in the middle of Unter den Linden, is one of Berlin's most famous landmarks. Made of bronze it rises more than 5 meters above ground level, was designed in the nineteenth by CD Rauch and shows the famous Federico II on horseback, with the actual uniform and coat. The king is surrounded by statues of famous military leaders, politicians, artists and scientists, and the top tier in relief shows the king's life. During the time of communist Germany this monument wasn't in keeping with anti-monarchist ideology so it was moved to a park in Potsdam (on the western side of Berlin).
