A smaller version of Eiffel's work

Walking across the bridge, strolling along the Seine, we found a replica of the Statue of Liberty or rather "Statue de la Liberté, that was given to the United States by the French to mark the occasion of the centenary of its independence. French sculptor Frederic Auguste Barthold realized a project Gustave Eiffel, made a bronze version of smaller size (measures approximately 11 meters) commissioned by Americans living in Paris as a sign of appreciation. The statue was placed in the Isle des Cygnes near the Grenelle Bridge and just 2 kilometers from the Eiffel Tower. The tablet in her hand is the date of the taking of the Bastille: July 14, 1789, while New York has recorded the date: JULY MDCCLXXV IV, of the Independence of the United States.
