Taufua Beach Fales

The village of Lanomanu was totally devastated by a tsunami, following a grade 8 earthquake which struck in September 2009. More than 200 people died then, and some families, such as the owner of Aleipata, lost many members, in their case it was 13 members. In record time they have returned to build fales and restaurant, with the help of international NGOs. Tai and her husband Sili Taufua serve each customer as if they arel family, and tell, with a shade of sadness in her eyes, what happened on 9/29/09, when a giant wave took all the area with some of its clients who had no time to evacuate.
