1 review of Rainbow Beach

Town for Sports Enthusiasts

Rainbow Beach is on the east coast of Australia, about 260 km north of Brisbane, in Queensland. It is a very small town, and only has between 1000 and 1500 inhabitants throughout the year. The beach in this small town is one of the longest I've seen, at several km long, where you can practice sports such as kayaking, surfing or diving. In fact there are schools in the town where they train you and hire out the necessary equipment. Most of the tourists who come to this village go to the wonderful Fraser Island which is one of the few islands made wholly of sand dunes. Almost all tourists are backpackers and you can find several hostels in the area.
