The Favorite Son Sculpture

In 1912, Don Pablo Barrero Rivero was born in Astillero. From a young age he began to work at the Bank of Santander and after several years was appointed CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. His contribution to the development of the town was well respected and in 1961, he was named Favorite Son. In December 1998, this sculpture was inaugurated. It consists of the central bust, accompanied by several columns adorned with colorful mosaics.
