Cala del Charco

I want to tell you about this beautiful bay at the end of Villajoyosa (Alicante). It's fairly difficult to get here, but it's worth it, with the Xarco tower in the background and, beyond that, the lights from Alicante. The tower stands on a rocky outcrop facing the sea, between the bays of Carritxar and Charco. Built in the seventeenth century, it has a conical base and cylindrical main body, and is now somewhat deteriorated, but still quite pleasant to look at. At dusk, you're guaranteed a spectacular sunset here, and the clear water is perfect for swimming.
