Views from the mountains

Larrun (in Basque) is visible from different parts of the Basque Country. Its silhouette is unmistakable, from which extends out a huge antenna. It is a very pointy Mountain, at 905 meters high it has incredible views. Between Navarre and Lapurdi (in the Basque Country), it is without a doubt one of the most visited places by tourists in the Basque Country. Romantics should travel in one of the 3 trains in France, which go above 700 meters in 35 mins, travelling at only 8 km/h: Www.Rhune.Com A nice day out for kids, which is thrilling as you can see vultures flying overhead and watch the flocks of sheep and grazing pottokas. For those with a bit more energy, the ascent/descent can be done on foot, but keep in mind that the slope is very steep. Some lovely places to visit are: Sara, Zugaramurdi, Etxalar, Urdax caves, the castle d 'Abbadia (Hendaye), Hondarribia, Lesaka, Ziburu, St Jean de Luz ... As they say, with good binoculars, and a south wind, it is possible to spot the Pic du Midi de Bigorre which is 150 km away.

Second time I have the privilege of stepping on this mountain. The first time we went on the cog railway that is located in Sara (10 km from San Juan de Luz). This time, we climb the mountain of 905 meters from the other side. We encontrbamos in Bera, and decided to drive. To do this, the woman of the house rural indic us the way: "Road to Sara, the first deviation to the left (toward a house) and continue until a home From there the road turns into a track and after.. there is a course to park cars. " The truth that I deserved it. The mountain top offers stunning views, but despite the bad weather (fog and thus not observe both France and Navarre), this meant the power to come up with more lightness Mount and to feel that we entered a world "magical". Since, every step dbamos haca we slowly discover what we owed before us: horses, ponies, mountains of stones, dolmen, sheep, people, dogs ... "We all live in the Mist: We do not know that there, but we must move forward. "

Monte larrun

Another world

Rhune is 905 meters high and is located in the extreme western part of the Pyrenees. After climbing the steep slopes thanks to the small train, we discover an exceptional panorama. On one side of Spain and the other in France. We see it very well Saint-Jean-de-Luz! There are also a couple of restaurants and souvenir shops. When you walk in nature, there is a lot of pottoks, wild horses and even manechs local Basque sheep breed that resembles dreadlocks, yes yes they have dreads! These guys are not shy as they must be accustomed to tourists! A delight for all ages! Life is peaceful up there and is punctuated by the soft sound of arrivals and departures from the small train ...
