Among artisans and artichokes

Monreale is well known for its cathedral and cloister, but maybe not so much for its streets and village life within walking distance of this magnificent tourist attraction. I had a lot of time so I decided to take a walk catch a bus back to Palermo, and wouldn't want to go if walking around the Duomo. I was lucky that this was a market day in the street, the fruit seller was attending to his perennial artichokes with a cigarette in mouth, townspeople greeted each other with great fanfare and crossed the street asking about their families. There were recesses of small tunnels with baroque facades and photo worthy.
