Hoi An is one of the loveliest cities in Vietnam, and in the 16th century it was a trading city a lot of Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese merchants who came here to sell their goods. The banks of the Thu Bon River is a place of activity: fishermen offering their goods, moored boats full of vegetables or building materials, and plenty of historic architecture.

The center of it all

Hội An is famous for its beaches, tailors, and Japanese district. However, the town is centered around the Thu Bồn River, the focal point around which all city life revolves. You can walk along the banks or explore the river on a boat.

One side of the river is full of shops, restaurants, traditional homes, and streets that lead to the Central Market. The other side of the river, though, is where you'll find the most unusual things.
