Town Hall of Tartu

The City Hall, in Tartu Town Hall Square, the heart of the city. It was built between 1782 and 1789. It's a pink tinged structure, crowned by a tower with weathervane. The building was designed by German architect Walter JHB and modeled on a Dutch municipality. It is currently the third town hall that rises from the ashes, the previous two were destroyed by fire. Skilfully an early classicism with touches of Baroque and Rococo. A clock was installed so that students didn't arrive late for class.
