Money well spent

When you go to buy the entry ticket, the 10 euros seem expensive. However, once you start to visit the different rooms, you soon realize that it was money well spent. University Town

Coimbra is a university town and the most famous landmark is the Old University, founded in 1290. It's in the highest part with an excellent vantage point. Around is the Baroque Patio das Escolas, a clock tower and a statue of Joao III. In front of the tower is a coated tile chapel and a stunning Baroque library.

Hard to forget

Topped by a distinctive tower and distributed around the Patio de Escuelas, there are jewels like Joanina Library (Baroque) and the Chapel of San Miguel (with its tile type carpet) - it's a must if traveling to Coimbra, birthplace of fado, and it's hard to forget.
