Surrounded by amazing mountains

At over 80 kilometers long and covering a surface area of 291 km², Lake Wakatipu is the third largest lake in the area. It's an especially deep lake and reaches over 100 meters below sea level in its deepest parts. Lake Wakatipu is surrounded by amazing mountains and the landscape is one of the most beautiful you'll find in New Zealand. It's perfect for lovers of adventure travel, skydiving, bungee jumping and, of course, hiking.

Pure and crystalline water

This huge lake, which is fed by no less than five rivers, is the prelude to the city of Queenstown, a vibrant, ever-changing city that is part of the waters of this natural reservoir that measures no less than 212 kilometers. Legend has it that a giant secuestr a beautiful girl; to save her beloved boyfriend quem the bed where slept giant and fat to melt, Ardi and form one crater, which is the Lake Wakatipu. Today, being an playground and boat transport, water that fills the crater is considered the second most pure of the country, reaching a level of 99.9%. That is, it is preferable to drink water directly from the lake to buy a bottle of water at a supermarket. Incredible. But if high level of purity, lower is its temperature, so even in summer, when the sun has warmed the crystal surface, sta fails to touch the 10, due to the constant flow of the rivers from mountains snowfall and glaciers. The lake is so great that as a little wind blown waves rise and the effect is the same as if estuviramos on a beach. In fact, people often go to Queenstown Beach Marine Promendade to bask under the summer sun, but that if they do not get in the water without a good neoprene ..

Agua pura y cristalina

Clean and impressive!

Lake Wakatipu is one of the largest in New Zealand. It is located in the South Island and on its banks recline Glenorchy and Queenstown lively. In this wild and uninhabited area (Queenstown apart) were some scenes of Lord of the Rings. Along the lake Wakatipu stretching several trekking, some of which are particularly popular during the peak tourist season. To move in these parts is better to have your own transportation, even if, after all, the local buses work fine but only travel at certain times. Do not miss the beautiful views of the lake from the [then = 146061] Queenstown Hill [/ then] and Glenorchy!

Pulito e suggestivo!

New zealand is a country with a wonde...

New Zealand is a country with a wonderful nature. It has all kinds of landscapes: from jungle to geysers, volcanoes, fjords and glaciers. There are also several lakes in both the North Island (the most famous is the Taupo) and in the South Island. The lakes of New Zealand are particularly beautiful because the country cares much of their environment and therefore have little pollution. The waters are crystal clear and always lie sometimes seems that there may be water so blue and so clean. In fact, the blue color of these lakes draws attention, and the people of this country ensure that this is due to a type of blue stone that exists in these lakes, and whose reflection is projected into the water. Some of the lakes that impressed me most were around WANAKA, on the South Island, where the landscape of snowy peaks and lakes is incredible.
