From the lincoln monument

As you can see, this was the monument in March, my dream was to sit on the stairs and think (as Lincoln did) for a moment, gazing at the reflections in the pond in front of the obelisk there ..... My idea of paradise! They were draining and remodeling it! You could have had this app beforehand and informed me.

The honor of a nation

Seen on films, series and for the protagonist of bibliophiles books like "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown, is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable icons of the American nation. Located in the center of the National Mall, between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial and east of the pool that reflects and was the meeting place of peace activists, or memorable speeches such as Martin Luther King, is an obelisk-shaped monument around him in marble, granite and gneiss rock. They say it is the tallest structure in the world made of stone and the tallest spire, with its 170 meters high. The National Park Service estimates that more than 800,000 people visit the monument every year. Unfortunately I did not visit it, but I just saw it from afar. It was a shame because I would have liked to climb to the top in the elevator that vertebra and contemplate the view that the capital of the United States is from there. As I always like to include data from these megamonumentos, I must say that form almost 36,500 blocks, weighing nearly 82,000 tons. The image and profile of the city would be incomplete with all security without the presence of this giant that pays tribute to the first president of the United States of America.

Just a few meters from the famous White House and must, on no less famous but no less essential National Mall in the nation's capital of Washington, the Washington Monument is one of the main historical buildings of the city, not to be missed under any circumstances. The tour is free (do still plan your visit in advance by collecting tickets on the Internet, for example) and can climb almost 170 meters high in a few seconds of lift, and have, of course, a simply breathtaking view of the entire city and its monuments. Unavoidable.

Incontournable.

The world tall obelisk ms

The first time I saw the obelisk Washington Qued absolutely perplexed by its monstrosity and grandeur. Sure, my reference was the obelisk of Altamira in Caracas, Venezuela, which dates from the years 1930 and be more artistic look that impressive. But this is going! Because not only is it look like you looked up and never finished, but there is no way to turn it around. It is the way the United States has to say "Mo is bigger than all of you together." And do not worry about look at the GPS or maps. As you begin to walk the National Mall Blvd you will see almost anywhere you peers. Usually you estn and if not repaired, you can stay around to sunbathe and read a book, or simply try to decipher tamaa magnitude.

Washington monument

It is a marble obelisk with a height of 184 m with a square, and inside there is a lift to see the city from above. It is surrounded by flags, one for each of the states comprising the United States. And in turn is surrounded by an impressive expanse of lawn. When estubimos flags were at half mast and digeron us that most likely would have died any military or person belonging to the country's history. We also find that the next lake draining and could not enjoy the typical view, but it was still exciting.

Monumento a washington

The obelisk

The Washington Monument is the most prominent feature of the U.S. capital. It is a marble obelisk that reaches 185 meters high. You can access the interior of the obelisk and up the elevator to appreciate Washington from the four cardinal points. Tickets can be obtained at a kiosk near the monument, but it is advisable to book them on the official website of the monument, as they sell out quickly. If you order online you receive them in your own home, why should you ask in the time before the visit to Washington.

Both the largest stone monument and the smallest obelisk in the world, the construction of the Washington Monument began in 1848 in honor of President George Washington. I found this monument to the image of the United States: big, imposing disproportionate and surrounded by flags of Uncle Sam Be it a good thing or not, I'm not too sure, but this is what immediately jumped out at me. From an architectural point of view, the obelisk is a beautiful monument to Egyptian trend and it is definitely something to see during a visit to Washington.

The Washington Monument is in honor of George Washington. Built on the model of the Egyptian obelisks, it sits proudly in the center of the Mall in front of the Capitol. It is the tallest building in Washington with 186 meters. Nearby, there is the memorial of the Vietnam War and we see the back the White House.

Imposing obelisk, a shame that the area was under construction and not so nice view.

Monumento a washington
