Herren Insel (The Island of Women)
Located in background Lake Chiemsee, the Island of Women is a popular tourist destination amongst Bavarians. It has around 300 inhabitants and to get an idea of its size, you can walk around the island in about 20 minutes. The island's most emblematic building that you can see from afar is a Benedictine monastery that was built in 782, where there's beer brewed by nuns. It's a weekend family favorite where they'll usually eat at. You can also find quite a few B&B's in private homes. It's the ideal place to go to rest and be one with urban life.
