What to expect

You’ll depart from Madrid at 8:45 in the morning to visit Castilla-La Mancha, a traditional and rural province to the south of Madrid that was immortalized in Miguel Cervantes’ masterpiece Don Quixote.

Your first stop will be the medieval town of Belmonte. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the 15th-century Belmonte Castle to learn the history of the knights of La Mancha that so infatuated Don Quixote. During the visit, you'll tour the courtyard, the armory and the living quarters of Empress Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III.

Next, you'll visit the Mont Reaga Winery to enjoy a tasting of Manchego wines. Did you know that Castilla-La Mancha is Spain's leading producer of wines?

After the tasting, you'll head to the small town of Mota del Cuervo, home of the famous windmills which Don Quixote imagined to be giants. Upon arrival, you'll visit a traditional tavern to enjoy a hearty lunch before touring the windmills to learn about their history and importance in local culture.

Your final stop of the day will be in El Toboso, the hometown of Don Quixote's love, Dulcinea. There, you'll visit the Cervantes Museum to delve into the history of Don Quixote and see priceless copies owned by important historical figures.

At the end of the day, you’ll return to Madrid and be dropped off at the Plaza del Oriente at approximately 20:00.
