What to expect

At 9:00 in the morning, you’ll board a comfortable van in downtown Madrid to begin this full-day tour of Toledo, a beautiful city declared a World Heritage Site for its well-preserved medieval architecture and its unique mix of Muslim, Jewish and Christian influences.

Upon arrival, you’ll begin a 2.5-hour walking tour of the medieval center of Toledo. During the tour, you’ll visit some of its most important sights and learn about the medieval Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities that lived harmoniously in the city and contributed to Toledo’s unique culture and architecture.

You’ll visit the interior of the Toledo Cathedral, a 13th century wonder that’s considered among the most beautiful Gothic cathedral in the world, and admire its stained glass windows, chapels and altar. You’ll make a stop at a historic convent to sample Toledo’s most famous sweet, marzipan, made by the nuns themselves using a traditional recipe passed down through generations.

To finish the guided tour on a high note, you’ll climb to the top of a church bell tower to enjoy a fabulous panoramic view of the medieval heart of Toledo.

Once the guided tour is complete, you’ll have the rest of the day free to explore Toledo at your leisure. Before setting out on your own, your guide will give you a Toledo Tourism Bracelet which includes free access to seven of the city’s most fascinating historical sights (see details below).

At the end of the free time, you’ll meet your guide at the agreed time and begin the return journey to Madrid.
