Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a town and municipality located northeast of Canary Island of Gran Canaria, which is the capital. It also shares the status of capital of the whole province of the Canary Islands with Santa Cruz Tenerife. With a population of 381,847 inhabitants it is the most populated city of the Canary Islands and the 9th of Spain, it has a metropolitan area of over 600,000.
