When you get to Liege for the first time, I suggest that you head straight for this interesting bar. It is a bit hidden, but not far from the city center. If you want to have a quiet time enjoying a delicious Belgian beer, this is perfect. Also, as you will see in the photos, the décor alone is worth a look. Many nights there is also great live music.
It is an ideal place to have a coffee or tea accompanied by one of the delicious cakes. You will see a chocolate bomb that you can't miss. In Belgium they serve these drinks in only a few places. You can share the central wooden table or sit in one of the smaller ones. Also you can buy exquisite jams or the bread for which come the finest clientele in the area.
The waffle is a sweet shaped square from Belgium, but in Liege it is different, special and better, uhmmm, just remembering it makes my mouth water! It is much smaller, sweeter and denser than "Belgian waffles" and has a feature that distinguishes it: A caramel layer giving it a distinctive flavor. Most Liege waffles are served without any accompaniment, some with vanilla or cinnamon. The Liège waffle was invented by a chef of the principality of Liège in the eighteenth century.
This restaurant was a fantastic discovery. This French restaurant is located a stone's throw from the Perron or from the Palace. The clientele is includes regular customers, middle-aged people and older ve appreciate the pleasures of good food, and know the environment. They welcome you with a glass of French champagne bubbly and delicious and crunchy bread with butter. For about 20 euros , you can enjoy the menu and taste a typical bird croquette, skate with capers , a delicious dessert, a chilled pink house wine, and a cup of coffee with biscuits and chocolates. The atmosphere is very welcoming and its definitely a nice place to stay.
During the day, located in the historical center of Liege, the square of the district is a really lively place. You can find many shops in the city of Liege which attracts those shoppers who come looking for the famous luxury brands. At night, the area progressively becomes a party place where all the bars open and students invade the terraces. I think there are at least 5 to 10 bars on the street, so whatever your style, you will find the place to suit you (whether you like rock, reggae, lounge etc). Other information you should know that there is a specific regulation in Belgium about the closing time of the schools, the evening often ends at the first light of day... ;)
To enjoy the true essence of Liege, you should try the city's drink, Peket - brandy made from juniper berries. Any excuse to go to the Maison du Peket is a good excuse, and you can relax and enjoy this beverage. The restaurant is located in the historic centre, behind the Town Hall, in an old eighteenth-century building that's been fully restored. Highly recommended.
The restaurant "Le Notger" is located in the main square, in the lively city of Liege. This is a very elegant restaurant, which has a living room environment, not unfamiliar in some other bars on the same street. At the same time, the place seemed very interesting where you can see a mix of different atmospheres and sometimes contradictory styles are mixed. The Notger is a bar / restaurant / nightclub, with a sufficiently classy atmosphere, which has three floors. The food is excellent, with a very good reception.
Lequet Cafe is a great place located in the city of Liege! Moreover, it is a very famous celebrity haunt, the author Georges Simenon visited there. Lequet cafe is kind of small coffee shop and brewery, which has a canteen feel. I recommend that you all go on a Sunday daytime, as there is also a local market, for you to take full advantage of the place. The room is so crowded, its a little old, you can find tourists, couples, families, everyone seems to go to the cafe to sit and enjoy the famous bowl of chips! The boss welcomes you with a resounding "Hello" and in parts where we share the table with strangers, the conversation slowly begins, and always a good reason we go! I love this kind of place, ideal for meetings when discovering a city. Usability here is more than a word, it is a lifestyle ...
