Upon arrival in Ko Samui, I had to choose between Lamai and Chaweng. After a first stop in Lamai, I chose Chaweng because at first sight,it moved me. Chaweng is too crowded, and is overwhelmed by hotels, but I still managed to kick-back, and enjoy life amongst the beach, massages, restaurants and overall atmosphere.
When you get to Koh Tao, you'll find the small, cozy village of Mae Haad. It's the perfect example of what is waiting for you on the rest of the island: idyllic beaches and unbeatable views. It's basically an island for youthful partying from the morning to night.
Lamai Beach in Koh Samui is below the town of [poi = 418841] Chaweng [/ poi] in the south. This beach has an area of over 3.5 km. This beach is quite touristy but hotels and resorts that are in the area are low-rise buildings and are fairly well integrated into the surrounding area. You can also find numerous restaurants and entertainment venues along the beach that are separated from other areas so as not to be noisy. In general it is fairly quiet with clear water and white sand. It is a beach where you can relax and enjoy a sunny day. The vegetation is also a factor to consider as it still make this beach a natural area to enjoy the surroundings.
Chaweng is in the beautiful island of Koh Samui. It is very close to the airport and a great place for a holiday of sun and sand. There are two things that you can do here: Visit the beach further north also called Chaweng Yai (Big) Beach or Chaweng Noi (small) Beach in the south. The north of Chaweng beach runs parallel to the town and that's where you can find hotels and resorts like the Chaweng Buri Resort, Lawana Resort or the Centara Grand Beach Resort. This white sand beach is over 4 kilometers and they have bathrooms. At its south end you can find a fishing jetty where you can admire the typical boats that they use in Thailand. In the center there is a shopping center. You can enjoy a massage at the facilities of Chaweng Garden Beach Resort or enjoy eating at the San Remo Lounge LTD. It is undoubtedly the most touristic beach of the two that are close to the town and a good place to spend a some time as a couple, with friends or with family.
If you are looking for quiet, you can stay in the area north-west of the island. Its beaches are more than excellent, you can be in the water for hours on end!. The natives are relaxed and there are cheerful restaurants, all with very good food. The area is full of accommodation to suit all tastes and prices, but I want to highlight its beachfront bungalows, which are cheap and of good quality. Here is where you can disconnect from everything .., absolutely everything.
In this area of the island you will find sunrises and sunsets of every possible color offered by nature ...... beautiful. If you are looking for an authentic place, inside the jungle and in front of the beach I recommend The Black Cat Bungalows, out of the luxurious and comfort but a special place.
I arrived in Ko Phangan Ko Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. The ferry took nearly an hour to reach the island. My main goal was to go to the Full Moon Party, the famous party held every month that takes place in Haad Rin beach in Ko Phangan, Thailand. As the island is very busy at this time of year, I went to a little place away from all of the bustle. Thong Nai Pan Noi Choose is a remote location and it took an hour to travel the 10km by taxi. It was worth it though because it's a beautiful beach and area. The beach is certainly not the most beautiful in Thailand, but the surrounding environment is certainly the best. The Rasta Baby Bar is a great place to go and meet the local people. I chose my bungalow and paid the modest sum of 300 baht, about 6 euros per night. I stayed for 4 nights but I hope to return and stay for at least a week. In my opinion, it is the best island in Thailand, the best suited to me.
In Gulf of Thailand, lies the island of Koh Tao, a tiny island with lovely beaches, and among them is Ao Leuk, one of the loveliest. This incredible beach with white sand and warm waters isn´t too busy, you find just a few tourists there, and that's because of its hard access. The road leading to the beach is a downhill unpaved and full of Socabon, so there are 2 options to get there, or 3, for good drivers and for the daring who can opt to rent a scooter for 250 baht a day, and with you can reach this beach paradise, another alternative is to go by foot, but be careful but I assure you it is worth it. And the 3rd option is to rent a boat and with this option you can enjoy a ride around the island and see the beach of Ao lek from a lovely angle. It is more expensive, but it is a good alternative. On the beach of Ao Leuk, besides sun and swim in the warm and clear waters, do not forget to take your mask and snorkel gear, and you can enjoy one of the nicest places on the island for snorkeling, with precious arrecifres that are very close to the shore, where you can find different types of coral, anemones, and even goldfish . Furthermore, as in any beach if we are hot and we need a drink or eat something, just a few meters away you can find a restaurant with an exceptional viewpoint where you can enjoy natural fruit smoothies, or pad thai. One tip, watch the sunset as it is magical, but watch around, go back the same way!
From this beach you can see the Great Buddha, one of the most visited religious monuments on the island. It's not usually as crowded as the other beaches, so you can really enjoy the chance to relax. The tide is almost always low, and there's not much current, making it a good beach to take the kids. It's very close to the airport, and there are minibus services to the city.
Greetings travelers. The coast of Surat Thani has a lot to offer. Whether you choose to walk along the white sand beaches of [poi = 418 841] Chaweng [/ poi] or [poi = 418711] Lamai [/ poi] in Koh Samui, the islands are surrounded by clear waters and have mountains in the backdrop [poi = 418821] Koh Tao [/ poi] or [poi = 418441] Koh Nangyuan [/ poi].
There are beaches and islands for lounging in the sun, snorkeling, diving or to simply to enjoy the lush nature that lies along the beautiful coast in the province of Surat Thani. There are many other places like [poi = 418671] Maenam [/ poi] or [poi = 425421] Ban Hua Thanon [/ poi] with their fishing village or islands like Koh Phangan with its stunning beaches and Full Moon festivals [poi = 88081] [/ poi] natural parks and Ang Thong, a set of small islands.
The truth is that this is a place with endless possibilities. Here you can find both busy, tourist beaches as well as secluded coves. It is very easy to navigate within the province, thanks to an easy transportation system by road and by sea. The connections to tour the islands are great to visit places like [poi = 418771] Mango Bay [/ poi] where you can participate in a number of water activities like snorkeling and be in a very beautiful setting with excellent visibility. I'm sure I've left out many beaches and islands, but you can get an idea of the possibilities offered by the coast of Surat Thani watching this video.
At the arrival of the island, you will go up to the town of Phangan. The first thing to do is rent a motorcycle to move around, they are cheap and essential. With one of these you can arrive to this marvelous corner in 15 minutes. It´s the most southern part of the island. These beaches and views are what await you. There are many turist complexes that will make your stay a nice one. The area is perfect to meet people and have a good time.
Another beach you can find on Koh Samui, on the north of the island, a few kilometres west of the Great Buddha. From this beautiful beach, you can enjoy excursions to neighbouring islands as well as the famous Full Moon Party on Koh Pha Ngan. We got there at dusk and found a dimly lit, quiet beach with bamboo tables and chairs, where people were enjoying refreshments or meals. It's quite long, with abundant vegetation, and you can barely see the hotels from the shore.
Travelling by motorcycle along the road, we found a small street among many, but with a small jetty to make it stand out. Here you can enjoy views of the coast and the Gulf of Thailand. Nothing special - just a little corner of the fantastic island of Koh Samui :)
