One of the things you have to do in Bogota is to visit Andrew. If you want to save the trip to the outskirts, Andres DC is the best solution. I´m tempted to say that is a smaller version of another place but that would imply that this is small, and has five floors that are immense and hundreds (yes, hundreds) of employees. The atmosphere, without being as unique as that of its older brother, is magical. There is live music and the service is excellent. The food (especially the meat) is spectacular.
Within walking distance of the excellent [poi = 123413] Zebra Restaurant [/ poi] is where Juan del Mar is located. It's another gastronomic hideaway in [poi = 123409] the San Diego neighborhood [/ poi] that's not to be missed. Located inside a beautiful colonial house, there's a large terrace and a cozy bar. Juan del Mar is decorated like a large fish tank in celestial tones, with pictures of fish on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. The menu is very tempting. It specializes in seafood, prepared according to the Colombian tradition, but with the chef's special touch. As for prices, this is not a cheap place, but it's excellent in terms of food quality, service and location.
The Rancherito restaurant has several locations in the region of Antioquia, one located in the Las Palmas neighbourhood of Medellin. It has a diverse menu that offers the traditional and hearty food, that is customary to eat in the region. If you visit Medellin, you should go to this place several times to explore the diverse menu. A Rancherito breakfast is enough to withstand walking tours for the day, and also is quieter in the morning, so you can secure a table more easily.
When traveling, the best way to eat hearty, inexpensive, and delicious food, is to go where the locals eat. In Gethsemane, the popular and simple Coroncoro is always filled with cartagenos ve live in the neighborhood, so that's where I went. I had a typical dish, which consisted of vegetable soup and then a big plate of fried fish (an exquisite burel), salad, coconut rice and fried plantains. The delicious and abundant menu included a tamarind juice. All for howmuch? $ 4500, or less than 2 €.
Working in Cartagena, and on holiday in Mompox, of course I visited the coastal dining room, the best restaurant in town, even recommended by the Lonely Planet. Good food and good service. Congratulations, Merys, for charisma, joy and love .... This should be the recipe for which all speak and recommend the dining COSTEÑO. God bless you and fill you with prosperity ... The beautiful Plaza de Santo Domingo is one of the best corners of the old town of Cartagena to have a drink, relax and people watch. The space is occupied by the terraces of different bars and restaurants, one of them, highly recommended, is Conde de la Cruz. In the sun or under a red umbrella, I recommend a traditional dish, typical of cartagena that has many variations. At Conde de la Cruz, the fish was a fine bass accompanied by coconut rice, fried yucca and a salad. And to drink? An ice cold Eagle beer.
Colombians often say that La Vitrola is the best restaurant in the old city of Cartagena. And while I don't know if that's 100% true, what can't be denied is that the restaurant has a steady stream of clients and the reservation list is always full. The Vitrola stands in a beautiful colonial mansion, nearly 400 years old. The interior is cozy, with a large bar, and live music at night. The menu is quite tempting. They offer carpaccio and ceviche, tamarind prawns, grilled octopus and a list of dishes based on seafood and fish. Delicious!
The restaurant Etnia is an enchanting place. When you enter, you feel a Caribbean vibe combined with good taste. The food is an ingenious fusion of everything that characterizes the Colombian Caribbean Coast and definitely captivates the palate of any eater, local, national and international. Additionally, this restaurant is cleverly located in a good place that is close to the Cartagena vaults, where there are also other restaurants that have a very good reputation. But this place not only attracts customers for its menu but also for the service that it offers. The work is achieved by Ricardo Movilla, the owner and chef, ve is undoubtedly an icon that makes a difference in our country.
The Casa Vieja is a classic in the Colombian capital. Currently there are three of them open in the city (San Diego, on Avenue G and Jimenez) and they are all managed by its owners, the Jaramillo family. It is a very famous traditional restaurant and was founded in the 60s. It offers traditional Colombian cuisine, called "Creole cuisine." San Diego's restaurant is adjacent to the business center, so there you won´t find many tourists. Instead, you will find many Colombian businessmen. It is decorated in a rustic and antique style and has a beautiful courtyard. The waiters are dressed like peasants, and the music that is playing in the background is Colombian and very traditional. The most typical food to be ordered there are the dumplings, the "melting pot" (strange soup with vegetables and chicken) and the "paisa" (beans with rice, ground beef, sausage, pork, fried egg, sweet plantain and avocado). The truth is, although the taste of this type of cuisine can be rare, it was all great (in fact it is considered one of the best restaurants in town).
Beautiful Colombian restaurant, with very good prices, next to the San Miguel Park. It has fresh fish, like snapper for about 6 €, and Colombian dishes such as pan-fried fish, plantains, arepas, and meats like chicken and pork tenderloin and they serve fresh juices that are huge. The executive menu costs about 6 €. The décor is warm and it has the colors of the Caribbean all over, with very nice pictures of the Tayrona Indian sites
As in all Latin American markets, within the Market Square of San Gil popular work canteens where you eat extremely well and very cheaply operate. For 2 €, have a menu that is a very good, vegetable soup which is followed by a dish consisting of chicken, rice, cassava, beans, tomato salad, onion and carrot. All seasoned with spicy pepper, tomato, cilantro and onion and accompanied by tamarind juice. Cracking.
The Rincon Paisa Restaurant is located in a situation facing the sea, near the port of Santa Marta and the guesthouse called Casa Familiar. The place is very nice, especially the terrace which is shaded by large red sun umbrellas. The restaurant specializes in seafood, and has a menu that varies daily according to the best that is available in the market, the prices are very reasonable. I tried the dish of the day, some prawns in a garlic tomato sauce which was accompanied by fried plantains stuffed with tartar sauce. Delicious, fresh and very filling.
This restaurant, located in the wild close to Shrimp beach, is a spectacular surprise. Under a palm leaf roof, surrounded by palm trees and sand, in Villa del Mar they serve dishes of fresh shrimp that are fished in the lagoon there. The star dish is rice with shrimp, a delicacy that is accompanied by fried plantains well browned.
The Old House Restaurant Carthage is a skilled in Colombian cuisine, its thematic focus on providing a family friendly atmosphere that is reflected in its main building, a typical construction of traditional architecture enriched with rustic decorative elements that evoke the strength and resilient characteristics of cultures that merge in this region. The restaurant has over 30 years exprience in the industry, which provides a high capacity and authority on the subject. The kitchen is an interesting result of the fusion of gastronomy typical paisa and valluna cultures, characterised by its richness in meat, seafood, legumes, vegetables and fruits. The specialty is traditional Colombian cuisine, which gives a special touch of sophistication, from the decoration and presentation of their dishes.
Family, friends or business, we always enjoy our visits to La Fonda Paisa. They offer excellent service, delicious food and an ideal environment to stay and enjoy. They also organize spectacular events. If you come to Bucaramanga, don't miss this place!
