This market takes place on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings. It is part of one of the most important markets in the region of northern France. It is located on the square "Nouvelle Aventure", close to the station Gambetta line 1 subway of Lille. The appeal of the market is due to the colored booths and unique atmosphere which cannot be found in any other part of the city. The market is divided into two distinct parts. The first, which is outside, features food from all parts of the world(European, Asian, African etc.) The other part features plenty of products such as flowers, clothing, footwear, hardware and all types of antiques. The prices here are very low. We went this weekend to buy some vegetables. We spent € 10.5 in 3 leeks, 2 kilos of mandarins, 6 potatoes, 1 butternut squash, 3 and 4 courgettes cucumbers. In the market, the prices are a little higher. The market holds beautiful stands of vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, specialty breads, as well as small independent shops that sell biological tea and a small Asian restaurant to relax after your shopping. On market mornings, even on Sundays, all the bars and restaurants on the square are open for people to come and have a drink and eat the "poulet rôti" that you most likely just bought from the market.
In December and January, you can visit the city of Lille from above, thanks to the great wheel. It's cheap, lasts about fifteen minutes, and you can admire the entire city, including the ceilings and statues covered with gold. You'll have a good time, whether as lovers or friends, and you can take beautiful photos or experience a moment of excitement and fear, for those of you who suffer from vertigo.
