Gennaro Italian restaurant is located in Grassmarket. You can taste a pizza that is almost Italian and excellent lasagna prepared with Bolognese sauce. The location is nice in the summer and although the temperatures are not so high, the tables are set up outside .
The service is friendly and the cost is reasonable.
We found a nice Italian restaurant on Baker Street when we were out exploring the neighborhood one night. The pizzas are giant, so much so that we didn't even have room for dessert. The decor is nice and the servers and clientele are both international. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a nice dinner with friends in Northwest London.
We were searching for a place to eat in Dumfries that wasn't a pub, and the tourist information office recommended an Italian restaurant called Il Fiume. The restaurant is in a park with swings and things for the kids, but what we noticed most about the restaurant was the sheer amount of locals entering and exiting the place. We entered and saw a wood oven and Italian waiters running around. A good sign. However, it's not traditional Italian food...the huge portions of chips that came with every place are pure Scotland! They have a bit of everything...pizza, lasagna, desserts, all washed down with Italian wines. I'd suggest the three-cheese pizzas or the or breaded fillets.
In the Afro Caribbean Brixton market, I highly recommend the Franco Manca pizzeria. It's got great pizza at great prices - go there! If you're in the area, be aware that Stratford has opened another pizzeria in the Westfield shopping center.
