The best things to do in Potosí

In this city with a great architectural heritage, you can count numerous museums, colonial estates, parks, and spectacular viewpoints among the things to do in Potosi. Visiting the Cathedral of the Imperial Villa, a basilica with colonial baroque and neoclassical influence, is a popular answer to the question of what to do in Potosi.

One of the symbols of the city, and another of the places to visit in Potosi, is a religious convent from the 18th century. Cerro Rico mountain, or Sumaj Orcko, is another of the essential things to see in Potosi. In it was the oldest silver mine in the area, and the panoramic view from this hill is spectacular, so climbing it is one of the most rewarding Potosi activities you can do. To the north you can see the mountains of Kari Kari and its famous artificial lakes, and to the south the Tahuaco Nunu and the way leading to Cinti, Tarija, and eventually Argentina.

Las Lagunas, a series of artificial lagoons located east of the city, are another of the popular Potosi attractions. They are called San Sebastián, Chaviri, Pisco Cocha, San Ildefonso, and Laccka Chaca.

There are even more attractions in Potosi: museums such as the Museo Sacro and exhibits explaining the religious life of Santa Teresa, viewpoints, parks, and many old colonial buildings. With so much variety and contrast, you'll find a wealth of stuff to do in Potosi!
