    Its extensive historical and cultural heritage has encouraged tourism both nationally and internationally, and therefore, each year thousands of tourists visit the main monuments and attractions in Pedraza. One of the main buildings and things to see in Pedraza is the Puerta de la Villa, the only access into the city. Its origins date back to the 11th century, but it was rebuilt in the 16th century. Interestingly enough, the gates are made of black poplar and for several centuries they were closed overnight preventing the entry or exit of anyone except for in an emergency.
