Of the most romantic places in granada

It has been barely a month since I could visit the Alhambra, for the second time in just a year and as the traveller Joxu tells in his experience, it is definitely worth visiting the Gardens of Generalife. It is one of the most romantic places in Granada, and although the greatest protagonist is the Palacio del Generalife, it is the colours and the smell of the flowers that makes you feel intoxicated, as well as the sound of the water.

The visit can be done in approximately an hour and a half, and the board of the Alhambra recommends that you visit the Generalife last, not because it is less important, but more so for the order of the tour. Although it all depends on the time you will enter the Nasrid Palaces.

During our last visit we enjoyed the Generalife first and we liked it more than on the previous occasion. Not to be missed on the tour: la Alumnia del Generalife, los jardines nuevos (The new gardens), Palacio del Generalife (Genralife Palace), Patio de la Acequia (The Canal patio), el Mirador (The Viewpoint), the Sala Regia (The Regal sala), Torre de Ismaíl (Ismail's Tower), Patio del Ciprés de la Sultana (The Sultana's cypress courtyard), Jardines Altos (Upper Gardens) and Escalera del Agua (Water Staircase), and the Mirador Romántico (The romantic viewpoint).

Worth seeing

It is totally worth the visit and the 7€ extra for the Alhambra ticket!!

Last summer when I went to the lands of Granada, I was left really impressed after my visit to the monuments of the Alhambra, which actually have two parts, on the one hand the Alhambra, on the other the Generalife gardens.

The entrance fee to the Generalife gardens is 7€ and the opening hours are Monday-Sunday, from 8.30 am to 2 pm. In the afternoon the visits start at 2 pm and stop at 6 pm from November to February and to 8 pm when the days are longer from March to October.

The general visit of the Generalife gardens can last more or less an hour, if you take your time. Among the places that can be visited on the tour of the gardens you can see: Patio de la Acequia (The Canal Patio), La Escalera del Agua (The Water staircase), Paseo de los Cipreses (The Cypress Courtyard), los Jardines Altos (The Upper gardens), los Albercones, etc... Some of the most representative.

You can also take advantage of the visit by roaming the Palacio del Generalife located in the same Gardens.

The truth is they are worth seeing, as they are very well taken care of, and on top of that in full herbage, since I visited them at the end of August. Maybe during another season they are not so well preserved.

The gardens of the alhambra

The Gardens of the Generalife are part of a group of monuments in the Alhambra in Granada, and even though it is also worth visiting the Palacio del Generalife, it is possible to buy an entrance ticket for 7€ allowing you to visit only the gardens. Generalife means architect's garden, and walking through it for a couple of hours is really a delight: murmur of water, lushness of plants and relax 100%. What more could you ask for?

Tourism granada

Generalife (Arabic: Jannat al-'Arif, the garden architect) is a palace with gardens in Granada, at the foot of the mountain range of Sierra Nevada in Spain, used by Muslims as a place of rest. Initially it was a country house in the ornamental gardens, the gardens and architecture were integrated harmoniously. The palace and gardens were built on during the reign of Muhammad III and redecorated by Abu I-Walid Isma'il. The complex consists of the Patio de la Acequia (Court of the Water Garden), which housed a long pool bordered by shrubs, fountains, columns and pavilions, and the Jardim de la Sultana (Sultana's Garden or the Court Cypresses). Some consider that the first is the best example of medieval gardens of al-Andalus. The gardens were redone in 1931 and completed in 1951. The paths are paved in a style typical of Granada with a mosaic of stones: These are white river Darro, while those Black River Genil. Earlier the palace was linked to the Alhambra by a covered walkway that went beyond the ravine that divided them. The garden of Generalife is one of the oldest surviving Moorish gardens. Visit the Alhambra and Generalife costs € 13.00 and lasts at least two hours.

Generalife gardens and palace

Granada is a city absolutely outstanding. Few cities are located in the highly privileged. About Sierra Nevada and also very close to the coast. Logical it became capital of the Nasrid kingdom. Granada is synonymous with The Alhambra (Red Fort), although it is true that the city offers many cultural and artistic attractions. When you decide to visit this place you have to be aware that it is the most visited monument in Spain and therefore must draw the tickets well in advance and be very patient during the visit. Here namely in the Generalife, the visit is fairly well specified and well organized so that you can see quite quiet all the buildings and grounds of this exceptional set. To me, has always interested me much Arab culture and more specifically his art. I'ma big fan of your decor, not so much of its architecture, which is functional rather not think too contributes to the evolution of it. But their ornaments, plasterwork, muqarnas, columns, letters Kufic and its exceptional pottery course. These sets also have an enviable relationship with the natural environment, the water, the sound of it, with plants, trees. It is an unlikely place for walking, meditating, while the stream crosses almost the entire set.

Rincn rest.

Apparently, the gardens of the Generalife was the site chosen by the Muslim kings for retiring their palatial chores. It was conceived as rural village, where landscaping, gardens and architecture were integrated, near the Alhambra. The Generalife is located outside the walls of the Alhambra, east, on the slopes of Cerro del Sol was recreational estate of the Nasrid sultans but also used for farming.

Generalife Gardens are an exceptional site. IN fact, they are of rare beauty, blending architectural simplicity and opulence, but with a lot of research. They are the essence of the expression of the influence of the culture of the time. Oasis in this place very dry summer, they are proof of the modernity of the site for its time.

The Alhambra is divided into different parts. Del Generalife gardens are gorgeous. An abundance of flowers, fountains, arches plant ... A true moment of relaxation. Concerts and events are often held at night. Unfortunately many people throughout the year.

It is a pleasure to enjoy the gardens of the Generalife, beside the Alhambra, situated on the hill of al-Sabika overlooking the Sacromonte and Albaicin.

We could call them gardens edn.

Even well into the fall, these gardens show the mild climate.
