Walk on the fortress

This monument is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and was rebuilt in the late twentieth century. This reconstruction was made on the information contained in a book that traced the various stages of construction and helped up the fortress in the form it was two hundred years ago. Having a few days to beat before starting a new course, I took the opportunity to visit it. It is really nice to walk along the walls to admire the architecture and the views over the city offered the highest rampart. Once arrived at the station in Suwon, just take a bus or a taxi to be placed at the foot of the ramparts and start your hike!

We visited the fortress of Suwon, located about 70 km from Seoul and that once protected the city. The twenty-second king, Joseon had it built in honor of his father Sado Seja, who was not able to ascend the throne, around 1789. In 1997 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on the occasion of the convention of Naples. During the visit to the fortress meet several houses, towers and other buildings typical whose aim was the defense of the city, all rich in history. We report the bell Hyowon, which you can play while you three wishes (you pay wones 1000). The locals usually asks the first stroke health for parents, according to the health of the husband or wife, and the third one's health. As we said, this is only a small part of the many halls and rooms that can be admired here. Inside the fortress is also a real palace, also dating to 1789, called Hwaswong Haenagung. If you want to walk along the walls then count three or four hours of walking, or you can take part of the journey in a tourist train which costs 1500 wones one way. Another thing that you can do there is try to be a "Korean archer" by 1000 wones you can do a quick lesson in archery. You can ask for the Yeonmudae Tourist Informacion, which is located at the beginning or end of the path, depending on where you start.
