A wonderful, magical place

I loved the care taken of the place, the cool weather, hummingbirds and peace! A wonderful, magical place where you can connect with life! It is easily accessible and minutes from the capital San Jose, on the banks of the street toward the volcano where you can buy many types of fruits, souvenirs and local things.

Enchanting titan

Beautiful tree standing high above all the rest. The volcano was blocked by a wall of fog which created a perfect backdrop to make the tree stand out.

Along with the irazu volcano and aren...

Along with the Irazu Volcano and Arenal Volcano, Poas Volcano is one of the most visited in Costa Rica. The excursions organized access to the interpretive center, where within minutes you get to the balcony that overlooks one of the craters of Poas. Prior to the first balcony, there is a path (concrete) on your right you through a lush forest enrredado horror film goes in a quarter of an hour to another viewpoint from which to get another perspective of the volcano. As attested by many of the photos, the fog is usually present much of the time, so you see the crater in all its magnitude is usually fed difficult task. For lovers of the numbers, the crater of Poas Volcano is the second largest diameter among active volcanoes in the world.

It took a second attempt to see it, b...

It took a second attempt to see it, but worth it. It is important to know that as the day progresses more and more likely that the volcano and the surrounding area runs covering cloud, so it's better if you rise early and you're a little early to visit him because the more you can see (open at 8 am). The area is also quite spectacular and you can make a simple journey through a path between a closed forest closed up to a lake (I recommend doing this, because it's gorgeous) is an ancient volcano and inactive. The volcano like (when we could see the second time) is spectacular. A crater formed by the explosion of the volcano of 1.7 kilometers in diameter and 300 meters from moisture still emitting potent vapors form clouds. On one side you can see the entire route the lava (and solidified) did in its last eruption.

Located in the heart of poas volcano ...

Located in the heart of Poas Volcano National Park, the main crater of the volcano is undoubtedly THE place not to be missed during your exploration of the park. Easily accessible (about 10 minutes walk on foot from the main car park), the main crater surprises visitors by its immensity: 1500 meters wide, 300 meters deep, and a lovely lake at the bottom of the frequent rainfall of Central Valley. We particularly like the charm given by the sulphurous fumes. Do not miss! Tip: Focus on early morning visits to avoid the clouds early in the afternoon ... :)

Travel back in time

The Poas Volcano is practicable trip from San Jose which is just 55km. The park is located in a particular environment in which it seems to go back in time. There would be surprised to see a dinosaur emerge from the lush vegetation. A journey back in time to prehistoric times. With a base of 6.5 km in diameter Poas has three craters, two of which are sunk in the vegetation. One is occupied by the Laguna Botos and one is still in business. The last eruption of 1910. Its craters are often surrounded by clouds. Because of the toxic gas emissions of sulfuric acid is sometimes closed to the public.
