The hipster center of stockholm

Sodermalm was once the working class district and, similar to other areas of this type in big cities, it has undergone gentrification. It is now the hipster center of Stockholm and nicknamed SoFo. This seems to be the place to go for Sunday brunch with lots of cafes serving up dishes from pancakes to oysters, fresh juices and coffee. You can also browse in the mix of vintage and design shops. The area around Sodermalm theatre also offers great views across to the historic centre of Stockholm and the roller coasters of Grona Lund.

On the waterfront is Fotografiska, a renovated art nouveau industrial building with exhibition space over three floors. Check the website to find out what is showing. The top floor has a self service cafe with panoramic windows. The museum is open until 11pm every day of the week.

Södermalm is a neighborhood, and also...

Södermalm is a neighborhood, and also an island in central Stockholm. It is attached to the north by Gamla Stan, the oldest and most central part of the city, through Slussen, a maze of lanes, railways and locks to control the passage of barges between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Also to the west by a large bridge linking the islands Långholmen and Kungsholmen. To the south makes contact with three other areas outside Stockholm. Söder (abbreviated normally used) has a population of 100,000 inhabitants, making it one of the most densely populated districts of Scandinavia. Until three decades the island has always been considered the working class, having been to the eighteenth'm pretty setting, with great presence of animals and simple houses one floor. In the late eighteenth century wooden houses began to change by taller buildings able to accommodate more families. Today Söder is a neighborhood with many attractive and appealing. It is the most bohemian and greater diversity of cultures, for example, the only mosque in Stockholm is located in the middle of the island, near the bustling square Medborgarplatsen (could be compared a bit to the Latin Quarter of Paris). Due to its uneven relief is easy to find parks scattered throughout the island where no lack vegetation and where you get great views (especially north).

Södermalm is a neighborhood and an is...

Södermalm is a neighborhood and an island in the center of Stockholm. It is connected to Gamla Stan, the oldest and central part of the city, by Slussen, a hodge podge of roads, railway lines, and locks that control the passage of boats between Lake Malaren and the Baltic Sea. There is also a bridge to the island THE WEST, who joined Langholmen and Kungsholmen. In the south, the island is connected by three points with the suburbs of Stockholm. Soder, the abbreviation normally used, has a population of 100,000 inhabitants and is one of the most densely populated areas of the city. There are thirty years, it was a working class neighborhood, and even before it was a great wheat fields provided to the old town as well as some animals. People lived in wooden houses, a floor, which very few remain. Now Soder is a fun, lively, where we leave the weekend, a little sore and more tolerant than the rest of the city, the evidence, we find there the only mosque in the center of the island, near instead Medborgarplatsen is a bit like the Latin Quarter of Paris. Because of its uneven terrain, it also finds virtually uninhabited areas, especially in the north, with beautiful views of the rest of the city.
