The faces of wadi rum

The Wadi Rum Desert, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is a very special place for me and one that no visitor to Jordan should miss. The sand has a very handsome reddish color and the ancient cultures which resided here have left hieroglyphs and cave paintings. Lawrence of Arabia made the place famous but nowadays its an official UNESCO World Heritage Site. Eco-tourism is popular here and you can sleep in areas that the local Bedouin have made habitable. I especially loved seeing the stars without any kind of light pollution. Some say you can even see Lawrence of Arabia's face in the stones. Sort of a modern hieroglyph, I guess!

Wadi rum desert

The desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan is a pretty special place with breathtaking scenery. The first video is to forget everything for a minute. It is the best way to escape from a routine and words are not needed. The second is a 4 hour video summary in less than 3 minutes. A hypnotic video to go with this beautiful desert.

Red desert

An experience that no one who goes to Jordan to be missed, the sand color changes depending on the sun early in the morning, just after sunrise, is bright red and orange as it passes will BECOMING morning. A sunrise in the desert is almost as spectacular as the view at night the thousands of stars above your head, with nothing to cover, any influence that tape light all its glory.

More than 250 miles of desert had to ...

More than 250 miles of desert had to travel from the Dead Sea to get to Petra, back when we decided to visit the Red Desert, did not imagine that there could be much difference in color between the rocks and dunes we had left behind and what we found to reach our destination. It is a place with a very special charm, the Bedouins who looked after us very communicative all corners and we could visit will definitely left their mark. It struck me that a guide (for Spanish tourists), we ask what belonged excursion. When we told him we had gotten there by motorhome is much stranger and said that in 25 years, was that the first time I saw that two couples arrived there on his own. The trip, which seems unusual could not be better, or in Turkey, or Syria (except in the case of the border, talking very bureaucratic policing, steal whenever the cross about 1500 lire, a pittance really) or Jordan had the slightest problem and is a happy repeat trip. I encourage you to do so.

One of the reasons why you should not...

One of the reasons why you should not miss is the Jordan desert Wadi Rum. Not a desert anyone and certainly his specialty is due to the red color of its sand and huge mountains surrounding it. Indeed, quite the reminded me Canyon. Typically there is a 4x4 and the Bedouins take you for a ride through the desert. Absolutely worth it. There are several routes that are time dependent. Between 30 and 50 euros. Another option is to sleep there, but too often a performance oriented and less attractive to tourists. What certainly is worth staying until sunset. Because the sun set in the desert is a unique event. It lasts only a moment, but the change of light, reflected in the red wall in the desert sand ... One of the essential points of Jordan and that alone is worth the trip.

Red sand, canyons and unforgettable sunsets

Jordan is synonymous with the desert and the Wadi Rum, considered one of the most breathtaking views in the world, deserves to be seen. Sensational colors that you burn more and more with each passing hour, mountains of sand at sunset become a red never seen before, very deep canyon, rocks, and Nabataean rock carvings of Thamudeni, camels and Bedouins who seem to appear out of nowhere. Enjoy the silence broken only by the sound of the wind and the sunset from a sandstone rock is an obligation. Curious discovery dell'ajaram, a green plant that produces a soapy foam completely natural. Just beat her on the rock on your hands and rub with a little 'of water to create a biodegradable cleaner. The fields nearby provide excursions in 4x4 (my game is from Captain Desert Camp). Council hat / keffiyeh and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sand in the wind.

Sabbia rossa, canyon e tramonti indimenticabili

No place in the world reveals its cha...

No place in the world reveals its charms after sunset. None except Wadi Rum. The sunset and is a treat for anyone who sees it, for those who enjoy it. Especially for those who feel. Many of us have a part of our heart buried in the sand. Lasting memories. Feeling so small before nothing is truly humbling. The sand, mountains and oneself. No more. Perhaps the beauty of the place is that there is nothing in the absence of everything. A roof of stars gives us shelter, your winks are a hint to happiness. You will never be so close to you, of who you are and what you expect your life to be. Take a stone in hand, grab strong and have all the power of nature to you. Rescatala in a moment of doubt or weakness. It's magic!

The valley of the moon

The Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is the most beautiful desert of Jordan, an essential destination for those who come to visit this country. It is located a few kilometers from Aqaba. This wadi was inhabited by the Nabataeans legendary peoples, of which there are several petroglyphs, although its most famous inhabitant was Lawrence of Arabia who stayed here on several occasions. In the desert you can carry out different activities, from climbing to 4x4. The landscapes are constantly changing, leaving you truly fascinated.

Went with a Bedouin guide and stayed at a camp in the desert. The experience is highly recommended. The desert is impression on its mix of sand and mountains. Of the most beautiful

Wadi Rum also known as Wadi Rum or Valley of the Moon. It is a desert of the most beautiful and impressive where I've been, in large red sand and stone mountains. Browse kilometers from l Jeep chasing the sunset at the horizon, in order to reach a of these hills of stone and sand and to photograph the last rays of the sun is magical. As obscures the stars come out and light up the desert with her light so bright that you do not need to use flashlight to see at night. At night the red sand taking a single colored eggplant lined with a cobalt blue sky. It is a natural spectacle.

The wadi rum is in the south of jorda...

The Wadi Rum is in the south of Jordan, on the border with Saudi Arabia. At its southwest end, he plunges into the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea. It is the oldest known crustal geological stratum. These rocks, as planted in the dunes, sprang there are about 30 million years ago and since then have been the weight of time and erosion. Today, after thousands of years of tectonic and wind, they are dug, polished and laminated and rise up to 1854 m altitude.

Looking to mecca

We took a route through the desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan jeep. A unique experience up and down the dunes at high speed as who rides the waves riding a surfboard. In one of the rides, you make a stop along the way and one of the guides of the car drops to his knees to pray facing the sun hidden behind the rocks.

Fantastic experience crossing the jor...

Fantastic experience crossing the Jordan desert Wadi Rum one of the most beautiful world they say, its color, its contrast of dunes and vegetation, a visual feast and also enjoy the hospitality of the Bedouin who live there, take a tea with them. I was eager to do a night there, I think the most impressive is the sunset and sunrise in the desert but because of time I could not, on my next trip to Jordan, hopefully soon.
