The Good Tsar

Tsar Alexander II was a Russian born in Moscow. What has this got to do with Finland? Well, the Finns built this statue of Alexander II "The Liberator" in appreciation, as he ended many conflicts and gave them more autonomy. For Finland, he was "The Good Tsar". This sculpture is located in Helsinki Senate Square, right in front of the cathedral, which is the city's most famous and beautiful building. It's very elegant, and it's hard to believe that it was built in 1894. Nearby are several benches to sit on, but everything is clean, and you can sit on the steps of the cathedral and admire the statue.
